Grace Lutheran Church and School is proud to offer a new, exciting opportunity for young musicians. Founded in 2009 by Grace Cantor Michael D. Costello, the Bach Cantata Camp will be held each summer at Grace to provide high school students the opportunity to improve their music skills in an intensive, creative environment that intentionally links music and worship.

The week-long day camp is open to high school students entering grade nine through recent graduates. Students have the opportunity to study the music of J. S. Bach, perform one of Bach's sacred cantatas with professional orchestral musicians and soloists, and perform other music for worship, including chamber orchestral works, motets, psalms and hymns.

The typical daily schedule begins with Morning Prayer and includes ensemble rehearsals, guest lectures, and private coaching sessions. At the end of the week, participants lead a Bach Cantata Vespers worship service for the congregation and community, including the performance of one of Bach's cantatas.

Grace's Bach Cantata Camp is a natural extension of its renowned Bach Cantata Vespers Series and the School's outstanding music education program. It supports the need to connect a young person's passion for music with his or her faith, improves music skills under the direction of musicians with amazing credentials for performance and teaching, and provides an opportunity for talented youth to connect with others who share their love of traditional church music and liturgy.
